as i pulled up google just now, weirdquotes.com had a quentin crisp quote up. it said, "life was a funny thing that happened to me on my way to the grave." and i can totally hear him saying it.
now, about the cannonball read. i don't want to be all sappy about it, but i have never attempted a year-long goal such as this. i want to complete it, i want to make a difference in a little kid's life.
i have a box of books on the floor, just collected there, making me tight-chested. i didn't know what to pick so i picked everything: classics, sci-fi, true crime, children's poetry, horror.
a year from now, i'll probably be the laughingstock of pajiba.
that or its saviour.

Sweetie, we will be the laughing stock together then. I have very serious doubts about my ability to see this thing through, but I am going to try. Cause, yanno, it's for someones little guy and I have a soft spot for the little guys.
ReplyDeleteSir! We're all in this together and there will be no laughing AT, only laughing with.
ReplyDeleteNow, let's git ta readin' and a-writin', Li'l Pardner.
I'm sorry, are trying to usurp me? There is only one ass-clown in this court and it is me, good sir. I'll challenge you to a duel. I mean it!
ReplyDelete*rummages in box for dueling glove*
The only way you would be a laughingstock is if you didn't finish it. No, seriously, if you don't finish it, I will laugh at you then withhold sex from you until you're balls turn so blue you die. Consider yourself warned.
ReplyDeleteWe'd never laugh at you--we save the mockery for Admin. Don't you feel better about joining now?
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Ahhhhhh fuck those snarky bitches! Don't let their misdirected self derision stop you. I've already been informed that someone has no faith in my writing or typing abilities.Uhm...might not be too far off the mark on the typing thing though.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to laugh my ass off because I know you'll be laughing at me. It's not the reading that has me worried; rather the writing. What if I say something stupid? (insert your poke Cindy comment here)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I owe you a wedgie.
I'm going to be saying plenty of stupid things as well. We can all laugh at each other! It'll be like Thanksgiving with the family.
ReplyDeleteEr, on second thought....
oh thanks, everyone. i feel better about it.
ReplyDeletenow, is there anyone i can bribe to write my book reports for me?
no?
screw y'all!
Ha, sucker! I keep contemplating joining this crazy crew and realizing, I like to read what I want, when I want (usually in the bathtub) and not be rushed. I am so not into the whole accountability thing. I'll be keeping an eye on ya though, have fun with that big box o'books!
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to do the half-cannonball, but I'm going to go for the big time. We can do it!
